Rogue Traders! |

Hello all
I know that I'm like a stuck record with reminders about NOT employing cold callers to do work on your property but it is so important that you don't.
It's not my job to tell you who you can have to carry out work to your property but it is my job to make you aware and warn about employing cold callers who offer to do work on your property and quite often turn out to be Rogue Traders.
A reputable company won't normally turn up at your address uninvited touting for work. A reputable company will give you a detailed written quotation of the work to be done with a cooling off period. A reputable company won't pressure you on your doorstep to have the work done. A reputable company won't demand payment in cash and all of it upfront. A reputable company will normally be on companies house (Gov website) however, even if they are still do your due diligence as this alone doesn't mean that they necessarily are, you need at least all of the above before you should consider having them work on your property.
Some of these individuals might come across very charming and nothing is too much trouble or they might come across intimidating making you feel pressured into have the work done and you say yes just to get rid of them but please don't because if they won't take no for an answer then that says it all and if they still pester you and won't leave, ring 999.
The easiest thing to do is ring a local trade if you need work doing, you go to them, don't let ‘traders’ come to you, you're in control because it's your property and your money.
I am still getting reports of work being carried out by cold callers which more often than not leads to shoddy work and people are out of pocket as well so please please do not employ cold callers wanting to or offering to do work for you.
Thank you Steve. | ||
